ABOUT MRS. SANTILLANA
Hello! My name is Mrs. Santillana. I have taught first grade for three years at Minneola Charter Elementray. This will be my first year teaching third grade and I am very
excited about the change!
I love to bring fun hands-on learning activities into my classroom. Technology is a great way to get students actively engaged in the learning process.
We at Minneola Elementary have so much to offer our students! We have laptops that we bring into the classroom. We have had great fun with our smart board.
We will soon enjoy Clickers in the classroom!
ABOUT MINNEOLAMUSTANGS.COM
I have always loved anything that has to do with technology! I decided to bring two things that I love together: teaching and webdesign. In building this website,
I hope to provide students with resources that will give them extra support or challenges. I also hope to provide parents with important information about my classroom.
My website is hosted by Surpass Hosting and is built using a theme from ThistleGirl. I edit the HTML pages with notepad. I have purchased cute graphics from GraphicGarden.com and ThistleGirl Designs. I have a reseller license from
ThistleGirl Designs, so if you're interested in custom work please let me know!

MEET THE TEACHER
I am looking forward to meeting parents and students! Meet the Teacher is Thursday, August 19 from 1:30-3:30. I hope to see each and every student!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
I strongly encourage you to come to Meet the Teacher. I believe that parent/teacher communication is key for a successful year :) If you were unable to attend, below is a summary of
important topics discussed. Please check your child's T.E.A.M. book for important paperwork! Thank you.

HOMEWORK!
Homework is very important in all grades. Your child will be given around 30 minutes of homework each day. Please complete homework on the assigned days.
It is important to establish a daily routine. All homework will be checked, but it will not affect
student grades. Homework is for practice and will reflect on student performance. Homework will be given out Monday and is expected back on FRIDAYS! If you feel your child would benefit from getting homework early,
please let me know and i'll try to get the homework ready on Friday.
BOOKLOG
Your child is strongly encouraged to read DAILY for at least 15 minutes. Please fill out the booklog DAILY! Your child will get a reward (depending on how many minutes/books read) at the end of the year if they keep up with their booklog. Booklogs are to be kept in your child's T.E.A.M. book.
HOMEWORK ENVELOPE
All homework sheets should be kept inside the homework envelope. PLEASE LEAVE HOMEWORK ENVELOPE INSIDE T.E.A.M. book ALL WEEK. I will occasionally do
a homework check to make sure your child is keeping up with their homework.

T.E.A.M. = Together Everyone Achieves More
It is very important to learn organizational skills. It is my goal that students learn these skills by using the T.E.A.M. Books. Students will learn that everything
has a place and they are to put everything in its place. Students are responsible for putting important notes, graded papers, homework, lunch money, etc. in their binders.
Students are responsible for taking out your notes and giving them to me. Through the use of this organizational binder, I hope to establish a routine that will keep parents
informed of daily behavior, school news and student work.
Please make sure you read and sign the T.E.A.M. Book Contract. If binders are lost or badly damaged, there will be a $6 dollar fee to replace.

2010-2011 TEAM SANTILLANA THEME
I am very excited to be moving to third grade. I wanted to come up with a theme that will get students excited about our new class. We will be TEAM SANTILLANA this year!
I have decorated the room with various sports related bulletin boards. All cute bulletin boards have a purpose. They are to attract student attention and to highlight what we are
learning in our classroom.
